Moving content: Extracting Files from eLearning
Content files such as HTML files, Word files, PDF files etc can be copied and compressed into a single file called a "zip archive" for download to a local computer. The process is called "zipping".
Summary of Steps
- In eLearning choose the "Build" tab. You must be a course designer to see this tab. TAs do not see this tab.
- From the "build" tab choose from the menu at the left "file manager".
- The file manager contains all the course content files you have uploaded to eLearning. Those files can be "zipped" into an archive file.
- To select all the files in your course, choose the check box next to the word "title" at the top of the file list.
- Then scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and choose the "zip" button.
- Choosing zip makes a file named *.zip which is the archive file which you can save to the eLearning file manager. Choose OK to create the file.
- Download the .zip file from eLearning.
- Then save the zip file to your local computer.
- The zip file could be uploaded to another system and then "unzipped" to extract each file or can be "unzipped" to extract the files to the local computer drive.
