Migrating Tests from Blackboard into Angel
When you use the export function in Blackboard and you selected the quiz contents to include, you can then import that package into Angel to bring in the quizzes. Note that Angel does not do well with Matching, Multiple fill-in-the-blank, and short answer questions, so you may want to copy those into a word document, and then re-create them within your Angel assessments.
- Go into your Blackboard course, and click on "Export Course" under Course Options.
- In the Export course page, make sure to select the Quizzes, surveys, and pools checkbox.
- Click submit
- Wait a few minutes and then go back to the Export course page, you will now see a zip file, click on that, and then click save to save the file to your hard drive.
- Go into your new Angel course (could just be an empty course shell)
- Click on the Manage tab
- Click on the import wizard
- Click on the "Content Package" link
- On the next page, you can click the browse button to find the file you just exported from Blackboard, open that and click ok to attach it.
- Now click on "Upload File" (you will see a dialog box telling you it is uploading the file) After it is done, click OK.
- The next page "Blackboard Import" shows you the import settings.
- Pick whether you want to add it at the top level, in a new folder (which you can specify), or whether you wish to put it into an existing folder.
- Check the box to "Migrate Quizzes to Assessments".
- Check the box "Remove unused files after import" and then click OK.
- You should now see an import progress with green check marks indicating success. Now click OK.
- Now go back to your course content, and you will see the new assessments you just imported.
More Blackboard to Angel quiz conversion tips:
For those of you who have Respondus, migrating Blackboard questions to Angel is going to be more smooth. You will want to download the quiz to Respondus from Blackboard, then import from Respondus into Angel.
Don't delete the Question Banks folder if it’s created – these are the pools from Blackboard. Surveys folder is the same. Assessments folder will contain all items from Blackboard’s Test Manager and the names used there instead of just the deployed Assessments content area.
After converting quizzes to assessments, remember than in Angel you have to recreate the link to the gradebook through each assessment’s Settings > Assignment tab > (New Assignment)
Rubric testing
Angel 7.4 allows rubric testing allows instructors to grade students in several categories, and then the sum of the points earned becomes their grade.

Question Bank Manager
In Blackboard question pools were used, in Angel it is the Question Bank Manager.
Q: How to bring questions over from the assessment into the Question Bank.
You can pull all questions from an assessment at once into the Question Bank Manager. Go to your course's Manage tab, and click on the Question Bank Manager, under Data Management. Click the little down arrow to the right of your course folder and select Add Question. On the next screen, you have the option to "Copy from Assessment." You will then be provided with a list of all your available assessments. Just find the correct one and select the questions you want to copy.
Security
Ip address gets recorded, instructor can access information through the assessment's utilities menu.
Assessment tips
If you make a mistake on your Assessment set up and it’s already been deployed, please do not edit questions! Wait until everyone is done and then only use the Regrade option to fix what you can. In blackboard you would not be allowed to change an assessment once it had been deployed, but this is not the case in Angel, which can lead to unexpected errors.
