Course Archiving and Restoring
- Course Archive (similar to course export in Blackboard)
- Course Backup (same as course archive in Blackboard, meaning all student data)

How to create a course backup in ANGEL
- This procedure only takes a few minutes.
- This will create a backup of your course (including student data) that you can download to your computer.
- This will come in handy if a student contests a grade. Backups are good safety nets. You should create backups often and download them to your own computer (especially after any big events like exams, etc.)
1. Login and go to the Manage Tab
2. From the Data Management Nugget select Backup/Restore
3. click the Backup Now button (this process may take awhile depending
on the size of your course)
4. Click the OK button when it appears
5. click the download Backup button and save to your computer (the file
is saved as CourseId.bak)
How to restore a course backup in Angel
- This procedure only takes a few minutes. This will restore a backup of your course (including student data) that you can restore to a shell. For restoring student data in case of a contested grade or simply to restore content.
- Login to the shell that you want to restore the backup file to and click the Manage Tab
- From the Data Management nugget select Import Wizard
- Click the Content Package link
- Click the Browse button and select your backup file
- Click the Upload File button
- A message letting you know the upload was successful appears on the screen, click OK
- The screen changes again - click the Import button at bottom of the screen
- Once the import is complete click the OK button
How to create an ANGEL archive:
- This procedure only takes a few minutes.
- This will create an archive of your course that you can upload to an empty shell.
- This will come in handy if you teach the same course in a future term.
- Login and go to the Manage Tab
- From the Data Management Nugget select Export Wizard
- Click the ANGEL Archive link
- You only want the course content... deselect all the User Data checkboxes
- Click the Export button (the process may take awhile)
- Click the Download File button and save to your computer (the file is saved as CourseID.zip)
- Click done
